Death of Mrs. Geo. A. Mauk After a Month's Illness

Mrs. Zula Mauk, wife of George A. Mauk of this city died last evening about 5 o'clock after an illness of a month, leaving a babe born on January 1 and a seven-year-old son by a former marriage. Beside the bereaved husband and children she had two sisters, Mrs. R.T. Hill of Clifton, Ariz. who will arrive here Saturday morning, and Mrs. W.E.Pomeroy of Mesa City. Her mother, Mrs. C.I.Robson of Mesa City, was with her during her last illness. Mrs. Thomas Marks of Seligman, Ariz., a sister of Mr. Mauk, arrived yesterday morning, and Mr. W.E. Pomeroy will arrive this morning from Cochise County.
Mrs. Mauk had but partially recovered from her illness of the early days of January when she was seized with inflammation of the bowels, which the best medical skill in the city was powerless to relieve. All that could be done for her was done, but no efforts could avail and the loving wife and affectionate mother was called to her final reward.
Mrs. Mauk lived in Mesa City from childhood and was a little over 27 years old. She was ever one of the most popular young women of the place and deservedly so, by reason of her remarkable good nature, her kindly heart and her forgiving spirit. She was married to Mr. Mauk about two and one-half years ago and since then they have lived in Phoenix most of the time. She is well-known here and the circle of her friends is limited only by the number of her
acquaintances, all of whom will sympathize deeply with the mourning relatives.
The funeral service of the Order of the Eastern Star of which she was an honored member will be held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the undertaking parlors of Mohn and Easterling. At the conclusion of the service the remains
will be taken to Mesa City on the 5 o'clock train, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday morning, followed by interment at the Mesa City Cemetery.
