Our loving mother and grandmother, Varua Brown Cooper, 98, of Woodland Hills, Utah passed away Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Hales Rest Home in Spanish Fork.
She was born June 8, 1905 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gaurdello and Elizabeth Frances Parry Brown. She married Terrell A. Cooper on June 15, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on September 7, 1954. He died Feb. 10, 1979.
Varua graduated from the University of Utah June 8, 1926. She was an elementary school teacher for over 23 years, which she loved dearly. She also ran a walnut ranch for 10 years.
Her family was her pride and joy. She was a fine saxophone player and had a girls' dance band, "Cinderella Girls" in the '20's. She was also a fine swimmer, artist and seamstress. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed singing, family history, horseback riding, and playing the piano and the harmonica.
Varua was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life.
She is survived by her children: Frances Ruell of Santa Clara, Utah; Janet G. Cooper of Woodland Hills, Utah; William T. Cooper of Queens Creek, Arizona; Nancy Iskenderian of Fresno, California; Ann Moeai of Orem, Utah; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Terrell A. "Ted" Cooper; sisters: Minerva Brown, Miriam Brown, Maria Loeffler; brother, Gaurdello Brown; and granddaughter, Lynn Moeai.
Graveside services will be Monday, February 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 West Goshen Avenue.
The family would like to thank the employees of Hales Rest Home in Spanish Fork for their kind and thoughtful care of their mother, and also to the many kind friends and to the members of the Salem 11th Ward.
